Bullis School Mission: Bullis School provides a rich intellectual experience that inspires students to be critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and impactful global citizens. Our student-centered community embraces diversity, honors integrity, and fosters belonging. Meaningful opportunities in academics, arts, athletics, and service stimulate individual and collective growth and enhance joy. Burke School Mission: Burke consciously brings together students who are different from one another in many ways, actively engages them in their own education, holds them to high expectations, gives them power and responsibility, and supports and advances their growth as skilled and independent thinkers who step forward to make positive contributions to the world in which they live. Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children Mission: CASA’s mission is to promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child in the DC foster care or juvenile justice system can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive. This mission is carried out through the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer advocates (CASA volunteers) who serve youth in DC. Georgetown Day School Mission: Georgetown Day School honors the integrity and worth of each individual within a diverse school community. GDS is dedicated to providing a supportive educational atmosphere in which teachers challenge the intellectual, creative, and physical abilities of our students and foster strength of character and concern for others. From the earliest grades, we encourage our students to wonder, to inquire, and to be self-reliant, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Giving Together Inc. Mission: The Mission of Giving Together is to collectively pool our members’ resources and raise funds for and provide services to persons in need in the metropolitan D.C. area, particularly women and families. This will be accomplished by funding services that include, but are not limited to, housing, health services, legal assistance, workforce development, education and social supports. Glen Echo Park Mission: The Partnership presents vibrant artistic, cultural and educational offerings at Glen Echo Park and promotes the Park as a unique destination for our region's diverse population. We inspire creativity and offer shared artistic experiences in a welcoming historic and natural setting within a National Park. Hometown Foundation Mission: The Hometown Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization committed to supporting those in need. The Foundation’s focus and commitment center around five key program areas: Animal Welfare, Emergency Response Personnel, Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities or In Need, Major Illness, and the Military. Our year-round programs are devoted to strengthening our local communities to create a more cohesive and inclusive society. Horace Mann School Mission: With our diverse, multi-national population, we are both a global and close community of learners. We embrace academic choice and responsive teaching. Our recently renovated and expanded campus, which features a rooftop farm, arts classrooms, and an expansive outside playscape, invites us to learn within and beyond our school walls. Serious about our students' academic growth, we also believe that a school community must be a place of joy and celebration. International Club at Wheaton High School Mission: To promote cultural awareness within our school and community and to provide a place in which students of Wheaton’s diverse cultures can come together for fun, service projects, and learning. We feel it is important for our students to celebrate their common bond as immigrants to this country. Janney Elementary School Mission: Janney is exceptional because of our beliefs, our role in the community, our people and our programs. Our students contribute to an atmosphere centered on respect, curiosity and diligence. Our goal is to be a community of learners built on a foundation of inquiry, equity, reflection, collaboration and experimentation. Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nation's Capital Mission: The mission of the Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nation’s Capital is to provide a strong foundation in Jewish and secular learning, laying the groundwork for our students to become knowledgeable, responsible Jews and citizens, who are deeply committed to the community at large, to Jewish living and values, and to the people and state of Israel. Joseph Gawler's Sons, LLC Mission: Whether you use only our arranging services or our beautiful facilities as well, our courteous staff strives to help families focus on what’s important—honoring a loved one. Offering service beyond expectation is always the goal in providing funeral services or planning ahead. Choosing to work with the staff at Joseph Gawler’s Sons allows you to focus on grieving, sharing and healing with friends and family. It also can provide the customized, ideal service in honor of your loved one. Manna Homes Mission: Manna offers an array of housing communities and comprehensive housing services. In addition to homebuyer education, and homeownership development addressing the limited supply of affordable units in the region, Manna’s work expanded to create new, and preserve existing affordable rental housing. Manna’s mission and work is needed now more than ever to retain low- and moderate-income workers, and build more inclusive, healthy communities. Miriam's Kitchen Mission: Ending chronic homelessness might sound impossible. We know that it’s not. Learn how it’s happening. It starts with dignity. It happens through belonging. The most successful intervention for chronic homelessness is Permanent Supportive Housing, which couples permanent housing with supportive services that target the specific needs of an individual. Ending chronic homelessness is possible. Miriam’s Kitchen is guiding people home. Mishkan Hashofar Mission: To have a safe place for Jewish and Gentile people to gather together as a community to worship Yeshua (Jesus) the Jewish Messiah, learn Scripture and mature in faith, serve in community, witness the truth of Messiah to the world and provide training to the next generation of leaders. National Presbyterian Mission: Leading People to Become Faithful Followers of Jesus Christ Together in God’s World; We believe God is calling us to lead people to become faithful followers of Jesus Christ together in God’s world. This mission statement boldly declares that NPC is committed to discipleship, to community, to service, and, most importantly, to a deep and abiding faith in Christ. Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church Mission: We are a Catholic Christian community of diverse origins united as a family under the patronage of Saint Jude Thaddeus, the apostle, friend, and relative of Jesus. We believe, cherish, and celebrate the saving truth of Christ as handed down to us in the Church Universal.We are committed to learn, live, teach, and spread the beautiful and precious Catholic faith. We seek to become the "Beacon of Christ on the Hill" in our neighborhood and beyond. So Others May Eat Mission: As a faith-inspired organization, our founding mission stems from our belief that everyone deserves dignity, respect and autonomy. Appreciation for our shared humanity and sense of community has been a central pillar of our operations for over 50 years. At SOME, we strive to serve, empower and elevate all members of our community. St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church Mission: Our mission is to grow and proclaim our Apostolic Faith in Jesus Christ while sustaining our Christian Armenian identity. We celebrate a long and enduring legacy and our beautiful traditions that uphold our religious and national heritage in everlasting servitude with love and reverence towards our Church. University of Maryland Mission: The mission of the University of Maryland, College Park is to provide excellent teaching, research, and service. The University educates students and advances knowledge in areas of importance to the State, the nation, and the world. Washington Post Mission: The mission of The Washington Post is defined in a set of principles written by Eugene Meyer, who bought the newspaper in 1933.
